Whore

I’m a whore,

and I bore

the secret lust of all humanity—

before all their humility

at their altars and shrines,

at my altar, their gold shines

and takes me once more

from a lowlife so obscene

to a throne and makes me a queen.

I’m a whore,

but I bore

all their secrets, all their faces—

their so called cunning my eye traces

to a place so deep so hollow

as the truth’s too hard to swallow—

like a fruit without its core,

the juicy flesh came out of nowhere

like their promises vanish in thin air.

I’m a whore,

yet I bore

all their whips and scorn—

a woman not able to mourn

her men leaving one after the other;

I am left alone like a childless mother,

what do I have left in store?

I have given each one of them all,

yet they all still call me a whore.
